A Day in the Life of Coco: A Comical Journey to Remember
Original post from 2011. Written by Candy Boroditsky
As an Animal Communicator and Reiki Master, I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with many unique and wonderful animals. But none quite like Coco, the cockapoo with a personality that’s larger than life. I often joke that Coco must have been a comedienne in a past life. She’s so atypical in her sessions, always surprising us with her wit and wisdom. Coco’s mom might not fully realize it, but Coco is one smart and hilarious pup.
During our sessions, Coco and I engage in the most entertaining conversations. Often, it’s not until later that I fully grasp the humor in what Coco has been saying. As I share Coco’s insights with Ming, we find ourselves doubled over with laughter, tears streaming down our faces. Coco’s mom once told us she laughed so hard at one of Coco’s antics that she fell out of bed!
One of the most interesting and amusing stories about Coco involves a day trip she took with her mom to Santa Barbara. Unbeknownst to us, Coco had driven by Santa Claus Lane on her journey. When we found out, we couldn’t help but laugh even harder. I can safely say that Santa Barbara will never be the same for us again.
Coco shared with us her perspective of the day. She spoke about everything happening at her end of the street and how she’s grown and matured over time. Her mom had invited two large guests into their small space. The young, immature Coco might have been upset by this invasion, but the current Coco was delighted to share how she handled the situation. She played the role of the mistress of ceremonies in her home, proving to be engaging, entertaining, thoughtful, and of course, funny.
After the guests departed, Coco and her mom embarked on a short drive that turned into a long, winding journey. They were trying to find Santa Barbara, or as Coco amusingly put it, “Santa Claus’ sister?” Coco, with her innate common sense and devotion to her mom, stayed quiet and still during the drive. She thought that if they reached Santa Claus’ sister’s house, there would surely be treats for her. Unfortunately, they never found Santa Claus or his sister, but Coco and her mom made it home safely, albeit exhausted.
Adding to Coco’s comedic charm was her innocent misunderstanding about Santa Barbara. In her delightful doggy world, Santa Barbara wasn’t a city, but a person – perhaps Santa Claus’ sister? The thought of Santa Claus having a sister named Barbara, who might live on Santa Claus Lane, tickled us to no end. Coco’s logic was flawless in her mind: if Santa Claus could be both a person and a place, why couldn’t Santa Barbara? This hilarious mix-up had Ming and me in stitches, laughing until tears streamed down our faces. It’s these unexpected moments of pure, innocent humor that make our interactions with Coco so precious and memorable. Coco, with her unique take on the world, continues to be a source of joy and laughter, reminding us to find humor in the simplest of things.
Coco’s story is a testament to her growth and her unique sense of humor. It’s a reminder that our pets often have more wisdom and comedic timing than we give them credit for. Coco’s journey, filled with laughter and unexpected detours, is a perfect example of the joy and surprise that our animal companions bring into our lives. So, here’s to Coco, the comedienne cockapoo, who continues to fill our lives with laughter and love.

Thanks for pulling this from the archives. I laughed and cried. Laughed because she was my silly and a great pleasure in my life. Cried because I so miss those crazy times, I miss her
