Tom is doing well in his new home and seems very happy and I visit him from time to time. However, dye to illness in the family, Tom’s family is moving to Arizona indefinitely. They are leaving on Monday and the main concern is that Tom doesn’t do well in car trips. He got very anxious and upset afterwards when they took him to the vet a couple of months ago. They are traveling in a small truck and is going to be roughly a 3 to 4 day trip. First of all, we all one time to know that we love him very much. Please explain to him what’s going on and why they are moving to another place but it’s gonna be a much bigger place where he will have lots of room to run around. He’ll love it after he adjusts of course. These are the questions Mom wants to ask:
Why does time sleep with me more than with Dad? Is there anything that we are not doing that he would like? How can we make this trip more comfortable?
Connecting to Tom, we explained what was going to happen.
We got feedback yesterday about Tom’s trip-
Tom’s arrived this afternoon at his new home in Arizona. The vet advised against medication for the trip and thought he’d do okay without. Tom did great during the 3 day road trip. I received regular updates and pics of him every day while they were on the road. They spend the nights at hotels and I had suggested to keep him in the bathroom thinking it’s small and he wouldn’t be as scared in there but the first night he made a mess in there because he wanted to be in the room with his mom and dad. He only cried for a few seconds after they departed and Blanca talked to him to calm him down and that was it, he relaxed after that. There’s a very strong bond between Blanca and him. Tom absolutely adores her and she loves him like if he was her own child (they don’t have kids, yet)
I truly believe the session you and Candy did for him was key for the success of their trip. Tom had shared that going in the car never had a good outcome and indeed, 2 out of 3 times Tom went in a car since I rescued him, it was to go to the vet, first time he got neutered and second one he got vaccinated. This time, since Candy explained what was going to happened, even though he was skeptical, he could see that every night after driving all day, they arrived at a hotel and he slept with his parents and everything was alright. Therefore, he was able to relaxed and trust. I’m sure he still would’ve prefered a time machine 😄He’s a very special cat and I’m very thankful he found the right family for him.
I’m attaching pictures of him during the trip and the last 3 are when they arrived to their new home. In the last one he’s sleeping with mom.
Thank you very much to you and Candy for the wonderful work you do. Don’t remember if I told you before that I’m very grateful to have you in our lives.
