Feral cats always teach us something. We love learning from them. Love when people respect them and their feelings. Here’s Princess’ story:
Here’s a little history of them. Raphael is 7 1/2, Isabella will be 6 in May, Princess, the cat was a feral in our courtyard for about 4 years until we took her in on February 13. The weather was due to go down below zero. She was so comfortable with the dogs, especially Raphael, so much so that she would sit on the benchmark next to him & lay her head on his leg & she let me & my husband & my friend, who feeds the cats, pet her. Now, she hides underneath my day bed, only comes out to eat. She’s afraid of my husband & Raphy chases her in the early morning, around 6am, but doesn’t chase her when we’re up. There’s no problem with Bella. She likes her & even has kicked her face.
Princess said Princess has learned from everyone here. Princess values all the lessons from Raphael, Bella and their kind and wonderful parents. There has been so much wisdom that Princess will use it on Princess’ journey. Princess understands and sometimes misses and longs for the ability Princess had to wander. Princess has always lived with freedom. It doesn’t feel reckless to Princess. Princess feels soooo much gratitude for all the love and kindness from Raphael, Bella and everyone showers on Princess. Can Princess come and go without too much panic and fear?
After the session from Princess’ Mom:
OMG! I had the feeling she wants to be back outside. Early on, I spoke to a woman from a NYC feral cat organization and she said that if it doesn’t work out, putting her back outside wouldn’t be the worst thing for her. We’re considering letting her out. She used to enjoy it so much playing with the bugs & rolling in the grass, not to mention chasing the other cats! I’m sure Blackie, the eldest cat will be glad to see her again.
Thank you so much.
