From Jeannette Maw’s Facebook feed about a stray cat named Merlin Or Bombay ButterButt:Stray kitty Bombay Butterbutt put me in check yesterday. I went to keep him company in his super lonely rehab guest room (it’s got no furniture and nothing to tempt him to play while his surgically repaired ACL is healing for 6 more weeks).
I brought the laptop to check emails while I hung out with him. 20 minutes later I look up to discover he’s crawled back into his cat carrier. Wants nothing to do with me while I’m distracted. He wouldn’t come out until I closed the laptop. ‪#‎lessonlearned‬ It’s not just people that appreciate our full presence.

Jeannette wanted us to ask him:

What do you think of Jeannette’s place? (Do you like it or not?)
Why are you kind of mean to all the other animals?
Why do you like roaming around so much? (What’s so cool out there that you have to go see it?)

We connected with Merlin:

We told Merlin we were friends of Jeannette, Elvis, Joe, Sadie and Koda… we also told him we had a few questions for him if he could answer them all for us. We asked him the questions while giving him the healing as well.

Merlin said Merlin is finding that life is rushing between the mundane to madness.(refers to your question of why he is mean to animals) Merlin knows home is where Merlin will live in contentment (yes he loves your home) The balance seems elusive for Merlin so Merlin is trying to relax and let everything unfold naturally. (Merlin is looking for the balance in his life which is why he has been trying different things) When Merlin is out there, there becomes vast possibilities of adventures to experience. (so there isn’t one thing that is so cool he has to see, he doesn’t know!) Merlin cannot suppress Merlin’s own nature to be out, explore, and be part of this vast experience. Merlin says, Mom knows the answers to all her questions 🙂

“looking for the balance in his life” … you know, as I’m sitting here doing taxes and seeing how differently I conduct my business now than years prior, and I wonder if this is my sweet spot or if it wants further tweaking – I realize Merlin and I are doing the same thing. lol
