My miniature Dachshund is a very fussy eater. She’s the first dog I’ve had who seems to not love to eat. She’s now down to 8 lbs., ate only 1/2 cup of food yesterday, and so far today has not eaten anything at all. When she does this, she doesn’t really drink any water, either, so I wind up using an eyedropper to force some water into her. She used to eat twice a day, then she got down to once a day, and for several weeks would only eat about 1/2 cup a day. Eventually, she ate more than that, and sometimes (rarely) will eat a full cup of food at a time. She’s been doing well even with eating once a day, but now she seems back on that merry-go-round of not eating or eating very, very little
Missy said Missy tries to not be a bother. Missy knows Mom has lots of things to do so Missy tries patience and knows things will be fine. Missy cannot respond to the question of why Missy doesn’t eat the only thing that comes to mind is that there no interest and no flavor. No reason or understanding from Missy. Missy tries in the all the quietness to listen and find the balance. Missy is very grateful to Mom for giving Missy the guardian angel so Missy will always have an angel to love and protect Missy.
Well, the first 12-15 minutes of the session had Missy suddenly very active around here. She almost ate some of her food, but decided not to. She drank some water and started to talk to me. I asked her what she wanted, the routine we go through in the evening. She didn’t want to go out, so after about 15 minutes of her bouncing around, she decided she would go to bed, so I went with her and covered her with her blanket for the rest of the session, and she is still asleep. Should be there for the rest of the night.
Missy started to eat a little more and a little more.
Then we heard from Mom: Break out the trumpets! Missy is eating the rest of her cup of kibble!!! Hooray!!!
Well, Ming, just wanted you to know that she has just finished eating about 1/2 cup and then we played with her favorite toys! She’s happy and energetic, and all this without the meds because my work schedule gave me no time today (I’m still working on the transcription!) to stop at Wal-Mart to stand in line for the meds. Thank you and Candy and the blessings and her angel!
