It has been a little over 10 weeks since Salem’s diagnosis of lymphoma. For the most part, he has done well, but he has been going downhill a little bit every day for the past week or so. If you remember, his mass could not be removed and our veterinarian felt chemotherapy would not be much help in his case. We have, however, been treating him with steroid injections every three weeks and Lasix injections every third day (we can give him his injections at home to avoid the stress of leaving the house). This protocol has been working well, but Salem has been slowly losing weight, as you can see from his photo taken a week or two ago.
Though he still is interested in food (we feed him up to four times a day), he only takes a few licks each time – not enough to maintain his health; and he becomes less interested in food as time goes on. He is not interested in hugs and cuddles any more, and I miss my kitty kisses. My heart breaks a little more every day.
Please send Salem healing and angels. Let him know that I love him so, so much. He has always been my best buddy and always will be; and I will try to do the best for him that I can at all times. Tell him he needs to eat to keep up his strength. Ask him if there is discomfort or pain and I can help him with that. He needs to understand that the injections help him, even though he doesn’t like them (he can thank our recently departed Chloe for our experience from giving her insulin injections).
When we connected to Salem, this is what he shared:
Salem said Salem has been working on healing from within. Salem has been relaxing, meditating and letting Salem’s body go through the changes. Salem’s soul is well and filled with Mom’s love and all the happiness Salem has ever lived. Souls hold onto the connections that matter. Salem sees Chloe’s spirit from time to time along with Salem’s guardian angel. Salem always feels Salem has love and kindness surrounding Salem. Salem does not want Mom to worry or be sad. Salem eats what Salem can. Food doesnt seem to be of any value to Salem or Salem’s body right now but Salem will give an extra lick over the food offerings for Mom. Salem feels peace within.
From Salem’s Mom:
This is wonderful reading for Salem. Funny, though, after cuddling up for bedtime Salem went downstairs to be alone for his reading then came back up later, so I can’t tell you his reaction at the time of the session. However, we had a little cuddle time (and Reiki share time) this morning and he was much more affectionate and purr-y than he’s been in a while. I even got in a few kitty kisses. As always, feel free to add Salem’s session to your blog. I’m very proud of my big guy and I love sharing him. BTW, he has started to eat a little better. Not as well as I’d like, but better – and every little bit helps 🙂
