Grace is 7 years old, she is from the same place Lucky (our blind horse) came from. They were both in the fire but fortunately Gracie is physically healthy. We found out just a few months ago that the previous owners were neglectful and may have even lied about the fire. They dropped Grace and Lucky off at the farm March 2012 and never came back for them. We found out Grace was pregnant and ready to give birth although the “owners” failed to tell us that. Teak was born end of March 2012. Both horses are so wonderful, loving, smart, happy. Gracie is a very protective mom but Teak is old enough to be more independent. Initially Grace was bought, but not Teak. That owner stopped showing up and paying for her so she was bought by someone else in Florida who was supposed to transport her but he changed his mind. There was also another failed attempt for her to have a forever home. I worry she may feel abandoned. Milton (the owner of the rescue farm) asked me and my husband if we would consider buying her and Teak for a much reduced price. He wanted them to have a good, loving home and be treated and trained with love and respect. Gracie has not been worked with or ridden since she gave birth, but last week I started working with her and riding. She is SO smart!! She is eager to please and is so happy when she has a “job” to do! Teak is incredibly smart too! She is a baby, but she learns quickly. I love them so much. Please let Gracie know she will not be abandoned again and we are her forever owners. Thanks!
Connecting to Teak:
Teak said Teak is really really happy to meet more of Mama Diana’s friends. Teak has 2 Mama’s how wonderful is that and Teak feels so special. Teak knows how to behave and make Mamas proud. Teak is growing and leaving the parent child (horse) dynamic and Teak wants to be the good child (horse) that will be so much fun every day for every body. Teak hears some of these words and tries to put them like Teak’s exercises to good use. Mamas – what love and joy for Teak to feel so good inside and out. Teak has been observing which is watching the different activities here at home and learning so much. Retention maybe a problem because Teak forgot somethings but Teak knows it gets better when Teak gets big. Candy told Teak about her guardian angel that will stay forever and help Teak feel loved and protected. Teak said wow, another Mama- Angel, WOW!
Sorry I haven’t been able to update you on our furbabies until now. The positive changes in both of them are so amazing! Grace is always a sweetheart and a very responsive horse and always gentle. But when I worked with her yesterday it seemed like our relationship and connection transcended everything!! We had such a connection, I felt that I didn’t even need to speak to her and I knew that she knew and understood everything I was thinking and experiencing. I do talk to her all of the time anyway! She was able to do so many more riding activities and excelled in groundwork. Don’t get me wrong, she was amazing before but it was so special and different. Wow!
Teak is a sweety. She seemed less hyper today. Normally she runs around bucking at nothing and sprinting. Today she was content to just stand next to me and Grace, or be by herself eating hay (and everything else she could find that would fit in her mouth!) but she is teething so that is expected. She had a calmness and a serenity. Thank you!
