Maisy is the black and white pup, she’s 13 this year! Abby is the fluff monster…she’s 3 this year (best guess). Just want to see what’s going on with them… Maisy was having some really bad night anxiety. She would be restless and scared sounding, but if we slept on the couch, she’d lay next to it and be out like a light. We’ve been using rescue remedy and an anti-anxiety med (one at dinner) and that seems to really have helped things – broke that night anxious cycle, but I want to see if she’ll let you know what it was about and what we need to do to fix it.
Maisy said Maisy is calm with the healing energy washing over Maisy. This feels good to Maisy and its not late. Maisy begins to believe something is here then there and now Maisy hears another sound and wonders how will Maisy keep things safe. Then Maisy starts to worry about protecting Mom then Maisy gets afraid that Maisy is not big enough for the sounds. Maisy then imagines more happenings inside Maisy’s home. How can Maisy keep things safe? What should Maisy be doing now? Maisy starts to forget and then Maisy gets upset with Maisy. Oh my Maisy is really worried again. Candy told Maisy, no need to worry Maisy because we have the biggest and bravest of all the angels that want to become Maisy’s guardian angels. Maisy time to relax and allow your brave big strong guardian angel to surround and protect you. Your guardian angel will bring more angels to stay in your Mom’s home too. This will keep Mom safe and Maisy you can begin to relax. Your army of angels will stay with you always and keep everyone safe.
This made me just bawl. I can tell over the past year or so that things have changed with her. My Smokey dog had canine cognitive dysfunction disorder – all that to say doggie Alzheimer’s, so I’m really aware of those subtle changes in Maisy. I’ve asked our vet about putting her on anipryl – the dog version of aricept, what people take for Alzheimer’s. He kind of poo-poos that idea and thinks it’s more of an anxiety issue (thus the anxiety med she’s on). She’s still sharp, but there’s more anxiety/worry/stress that I can see in her than there used to be. I have to remind myself that she is 13 and that this is a potential. L I may just push the issue with the vet and get her on the anipryl. It worked great for Smokey and there’s no more side effects to it than the other med she’s on.
She was acting like a yahoo when you guys started at 6:00! Both of them were! They were running around, she was flinging the squeaky raccoon and her other fluffy toys and then wanted me to play with her with her squeaky football. And talking, boy was she talking! She’d stare at me and just woo-woo-woo do her Wookie sound talking. So silly. She eventually settled down in the kitchen and the ears and eyebrows were just wiggling around and she’d take a peek at me, then close her eyes…then they’d pop open, she’d look at me, the ears would be going and then her eyes were closed. The whole time you were working on Abby she was looking this way, that way, all over the place at things that only she was seeing. Maisy did sleep well through the night – only got up at 4 this morning to go out to week, then back to sleep until 5:45 when my alarm went off. I’ll definitely try the music while we’re gone and see if that helps her too
