Eight years ago during the Christmas season is when I adopted/rescued my yellow labrador. She is the love of my life and she makes my heart sing. She is my sunshine girl and the one I sing to, “you are my sunshine”. For a very long time, all I wanted was a yellow lab. I don’t know why, I just did. Finally one day, I found her on the internet. She was the mother of the seeing eye. What a noble profession I thought. All of her babies are service dogs giving back to our society. Now it was time to retire her at 2 years old. How perfect. My niece had just written a letter to Santa Claus asking that her Auntie receive a dog for Christmas. It was looking like Santa was making good on her wish. I asked to see a picture of the yellow lab. When I saw the picture it was love at first sight. My first thought was what a beautiful dog. She was way up in the mountains of northern california. My best friend and her husband were driving through and picked her up. The owners had named her Diva because she had won a beauty contest. When I saw her I just could not give up the name but anyone knowing me would know I would never have a dog named Diva. So I added Sammy. (short for Samantha) When Sammy Diva arrived to my house, she had never seen a car, never seen stairs, never seen TV. All the new noises of a city were alarming to her. But day by day, little by little, I taught Sammy how to climb the stairs, watch TV and cross the streets carefully. Every day, we bonded closer and closer. There is nothing in this world I would want more for Christmas than my happy yellow dog. For her service to our country I salute her. Now she is my baby at 10 years old to continue to be spoiled and loved every day of the rest of life. She has inspired me to be a healer for animals as well. Every day I help another pet, its because of Sammy Diva. She is the reason I learned the healing modalities for animals. Sammy Diva believes that every dog should have health and wellness.
