After our wonderful Saturday adventure at Guide Dogs of America it started me thinking about people and their pets. You know that saying- that owners begin to look like their dogs, well that may be true in some cases. I have also observed that we choose pets that have behaviors similar to our own. My examples would be- Ming and her lab Sammy Diva. No they don’t look alike but Ming is all about service to mankind/animal kind. She always wanted a dog that was involved with the Guide dogs. Sammy Diva was a female that gave birth to dogs that went into the guide dog programs. When we were at the Guide dogs of America event I asked Ming how could she even eat lunch with all those amazing labs all around us? She was so delighted in seeing and meeting so many of them. She took tons of photos to share with everyone too. I told Ming if this was a boxer event and they had 30-40 boxers of all sizes running about I couldn’t contain myself. I enjoy all fur babies, but I know my heart goes pit-ter-patter for one breed only, the magnificent boxer. My personality fits well with the playful and fun loving character of this breed. Boxers are also the dog of my youth. They have wonderful inquisitive nature along with being very energetic. Though boxers are generally people friendly and inordinately fond of kissing, they will protect if the situation presents itself. A mirror image of me!
My brother got his first dog and he chose a basset hound. Now these two look like twins. He wanted a reflection of his own good looks, and she certainly has them.
Look around or in your own home. What traits do your pets mimic of yours, or are they wearing lipstick today? My fun thoughts for the day.
