When we met Sandy, her Mom was thinking of doing extracapsular surgery. Her sweet dog is 11. Its such a tough decision and our hearts go out to both of them.
Before you started the Reiki session Sandy was snoozing in her crate (with the door open, she can come and go as she pleases, that’s her bed). She stayed there the whole time, sometimes dreaming a bit. She dreams often, so that’s normal. I layed on the floor near the crate just so I could watch her (and maybe get a bit of the Reiki too!).
Sandy doesn’t enjoy the exercises and stretches and she usually makes it difficult for me to do them properly by laying down when she should be standing or by laying on her right side so I can’t manipulate her right leg. She doesn’t like the exercises so I don’t really think she considers them games (because they aren’t fun for her). I do what she’ll allow me to do though without stressing her.
It’s nice to hear that she’s content. I feel bad because she can’t be the silly, active girl that she wants to be right now because she’s so restricted. Conservative Management takes a lot longer than if she had the surgery, although the rehab and physical therapy is the same. This morning for example, she was overly excited and she was trying to run laps around the living room but I had to tell her to settle down before she hurt herself. She’s very energetic and acts like a 2 yr old dog, so it’s not easy to keep her quiet.
The next time we gave Sandy a reiki session, she said:
Mom’s in a happy, nervous mood today. Lots going on. My reikiis back! Powerful and good, racing through my body and then to my hips.POW POW, blast them with your warm wonderful Reiki healing energy. It sounds wild but its really very warm inside me and relaxing. I’m not running around as much right now. My hips just won’t cooperate. Mom’s planning to do something about all this. I know because I can sense what is going on here and especially with Mom. I’m a happy dog with very few complaints. I am loved and cared for every day
