Like you, I am always amazed by my animals. Just recently Star communicated to me her reasons for blocking anyone from petting Kc. This is the reason she did this. She was protecting her shy brother. I’m sure all of you that have been reading about Kc, you will see that he is my black/white shy Boxer. His sister Star is the total opposite. Star jumps in your face and kisses you. She’s there for you.

Now I decided to really start observing Star and Kc’s behavior when new people come in the house.

Sure enough, people reach down to touch Kc and you can feel his skin start to crawl as a person is approaching him. As they go to touch him Star intervenes with “here I am, how about me?” That gives Kc time to run and hide which is exactly what he does. He finds a piece of furniture to tuck behind. Star does her wiggle dance for the new arrival. This happens repeatedly. Every single time this happens. Unless Kc approaches the person on his own, Star will be there to protect her brother. She may be younger but she’s very attuned to her brother’s fears.  I think this is wonderful to have 2 dogs so connected and so attuned.
