Ok, so I decided to try something new. Give my dog a bath. Other people do it. Why can’t I? She has been getting bathed at the LA Kennel Club since she was a baby. But now that she’s older she stays at home more. Lucy is our high maintenance dog, she needs her hair trimmed by her backside and has allergies so she needs a bath more often. Candy takes her with her Boxers when they go in for a bath. So what about Sammy. She was starting to smell like “dog”. You know that smell. So I thought I would try. Went out and bought some oatmeal shampoo so it would be something similar to what she was used to. I thought I’d take her into my shower since it was the same level as the floor and she could walk right in, I could shampoo her with the removeable shower head gently running in the background. Now, that sounds nice right? NOT! The head moved around getting us wet. I got Sammy in the shower once with HAM. But she quickly bolted and ran into the living room. Coaxing her back again with HAM she walked in the shower however she emitted a “scare” smell. I smelled it immediately. There was no way I was going to have Sammy afraid. She’s been through enough and I didnt want this to be a terrible memory. SO I said, ok, forget it. Let’s go downstairs.
We went outside and I asked her if she wanted to try and have a bath outside as it started to warm up. She was amenable to that. I got two buckets of warm water, towels and my bowl of HAM. Out she came. Lucy was staring through the glass door, what is she going to do to Sammy?! Sammy’s tail was wagging the whole time. Perhaps she thought I was massaging her, she loves that. I poured warm water over herr and the water just bounced off of her, ah, the lab. Well she needed more water. Finally I was able to work the shampoo in.. Lathered her all up. Then began to rinse. Again the tail was wagging and some occasional ham in between.
The only thing though is that I didnt wash well enough underneath. We will try that next time. She’ll start to get used to it and so will I.

You made it so nice for her, when she was scared, you did it in a very clever way. That´s the way to go! Good photos!
