Happy Birthday to the girls!! Who are the girls? The girls are Mochi and I. Mochi is 12. That’s all you need to know. Mochi is pretty old for a cat, but she’s still got the face of a young cat. She doesn’t appear any different. She meows still like crazy whenever she wants anything. It’s easy to remember the dogs birthdays, we even have parties for them. But I thought Mochi should get a mention. Many people don’t even know I have a cat. She doesn’t act out too much so there isn’t that much to blog about her. But all this is a good thing. I want a no drama cat. I grew up with cats my whole life. I thought they were fascinating creatures. Smart, skillful and can be very funny. I will never forget the day that my Dad thought our cat was the smartest cat in the world because it would bury its poop after she went. I didn’t have the heart to tell him all cats were that smart. Mochi is not a cat that holds grudges which is good. I think the first time we went away for vacation she was not happy, and wouldn’t come out for hours and hours when we got back. But now, since I usually have people come in and out, she isn’t too lonely. Plus my niece, Rayne will visit her. I remember once when I was in Tahiti, Candy had to let her out of the bathroom since I was having some work done on the house. Well, are you surprised, Candy is not really a cat person. She took her god daughter Jen with her to my house so Jen could let the cat out. Well, well, what happened? Mochi bonded with Candy. I was shocked. Candy told me that Mochi reminded her of a Boxer in cat fur. Mochi screams and screams whenever she wants something, whether it be her catbox cleaned, more food, wet food. She is relentless. She reminded Candy of her Boxer, Ry. I called from Tahiti and Candy told me that Mochi liked to be petted “backwards”, meaning against her fur. When she told me that, I knew she wasn’t lying. Since Mochi was a kitten, we pet her all over up and down and all around so she wouldn’t be one of those cats that was too ‘stuffy’. To this day, I don’t think Mochi has scratched me but once. And I’m sure that one time was my fault. Mochi lives in her 3 story condo most of the time. She can see out the window. My friend and physician told me she’d probably live to 18 since she never goes outside. She’s been healthy and happy. She likes reiki too. She has been the least difficult to take care of. The beauty of a cat, they are low maintenance.
Mochi gets along so well with Lucy and Sammy. That is a blessing in itself. Mochi used to sit with Sammy on the couch. Mochi sees eye to eye with Lucy. (They’re the same height) Lucy will lick Mochi’s face and Mochi will just close her eyes. Kisses all around.
We have catnip all ready for her birthday celebration. Let’s party!!
