I’m not sure I was prepared for the responses my other fur-babies had after Ry’s passing. I came home after the Vet, and there was happy Lucy, and the little black boxer baby waiting for Mom, and Ry. “Hi Mom, “ wagging tails, licks and kisses, all around. “Mom, where is Ry?” So after all there looking around I tried to tell them in that amazing communication we have developed between us. My tears were greeted with body slams, and more doggy love. Somehow as the evening wore on they became more and more in tuned to something/or someone isn’t here. At bed time when we went upstairs, Lucy went over to Ry’s bed lay down on it, and cried real tears. I mean she sobbed for hours. How could the big brother that saved her life, and rescued her be gone forever? I held, and rocked Lucy all night, but her sadness continued for weeks.
Ry’s best pal, Sammy Diva who lives down the street, was also not dealing with her sorrow any better.
Ry was her 1st friend!
He taught her how to play with toys, to play chase, eat treats, and just feel safe all day, everyday. Sammy could not get pass the loss, so I came up with a great plan. Ry’s favorite toy since forever was a huge flat dog, he slept on every night, so I took it over to Sammy’s house. This was the piece of Ry she could hold onto. This began her recovery from her loss. It was so great to see her sleeping on it, and start to eat again, and just be sweet Sammy Diva.
Now the little black boxer boy really just feels bad, and sad for the girls. He didn’t get to spend enough time with Ry to get that attached.

Flower essences are a great compliment to Reiki. I use Anaflora essences which are made especially for animals (www.anaflora.com). The ‘Return to Joy’ essence is always a great place to start, but there is also one called ‘Bereavement’ formulated to help animals cope with the loss of a loved one. My deepest sympathies on the passing of Ry – I pass on one of my favorite quotes to you: The eternal being – as it lives in us, lives in every animal. -Arthur Schopenhauer. Thanks for your wonderful blog.
