I love it when I meet a pet owner who is so intune and connected to their pets! We received an email asking about Reiki for their dog that was going to have surgery. : There was some concern because he is 12. When Candy and I heard his age we were concerned too! His Mom said, I’m looking forward to experiencing how you can help Dudley. Monday would be the preferred day – we are in Denver (Mountain time). I take him in at 9am, but I don’t know exactly what time the surgery begins. Given his advanced age, we are worried about him. I hope you can convey that we really love him and his neuter and dental is for his own good. The vet wanted to run a few more tests before doing the surgery, so they have kept him overnight and will do it in the morning (Tuesday). I miss him and hope he doesn’t think he has been abandoned back to the shelter. He has a mass in one of his testicles that will need to go to pathology. He has 2 teeth that need to come out. I hope he soaked in lots of energy as you described. Being hypothyroid, he is a bit of an anesthetic risk. His vet was voted Colorado vet of the year in 2008, so I know he is in good hands.
During his first session before surgery, he was wonderful to Reiki. He was so calm, so kind, so easy. He even told us he follows the rules, he’s a good dog. We gave him mental healings reassuring him that all would be okay. During the Reiki session he “came right up to me” and just looked at me. No dog has ever done that during a Reiki session. It was as if he was just curious. He had to stay over night but he was okay.
The next day, we heard from his Mama: I’m on my way to bring him home. They pulled 5
teeth and did the neuter. He has a mass going to CSU pathology. They said he did *remarkably* well 🙂 If you think tonight is the proper night, then please proceed. Thank you!
We wanted to give him his Reiki session right away to help his incision heal as well as where the mass was. Also to where his teeth were pulled. He was sore and there was some pain. Reiki would help his pain too. We were surprised that Dudley had something say. Usually after the pets have surgery they are more groggy and tired. But Dudley said , Mom, I’m so sore. Wow, I feel pretty out of it too. I have
some pain. Dudley is having discomfort but don’t worry Mom I’ll be okay. I feel much stronger now. Dudley is KING. Dudley feels all the love everyone is sending him. He feels very special in a very humble way. Candy said he was such a sweet dog with such sweet energy.
After his 2nd Reiki session, his Mama said : He did great – you really wouldn’t know that he had surgery. He did all of his same stuff – even barked for his dinner, although slightly less loudly. I guess those 5 missing teeth did slow him down just a touch. But he took a short slow walk and was really just himself. Didn’t exhibit any discomfort.
It was such an honor to meet and Reiki Dudley. The Reiki helped him tap into his own wellness center where he could just start healing! He has a very wise Mama that thought of getting Reiki before and after surgery! The Reiki will just keep flowing for Dudley!
